Just before Lockdown 1, I installed a new interactive space at Tate Liverpool.
Dorothy, my Daughter was just over 3 months old when I did this (I have no idea how I did it looking back)! But what I do remember is the overwhelming support I received from other women in my life. My Mother, my colleagues at Tate, an amazingly talented seamstress and female friends and neighbours who helped stuff what seemed like a million objects!
A month later we went in Lockdown and the gallery closed its doors.
And now these sculptures are all back with me at home, wrapped and waiting for their next adventure.
Meanwhile, I've been busy creating new sensory-inspired objects that people have used in individual interactions within their homes. These playful objects have provided comfort, relieved period pain, supported sensory-needs and aided relaxation.
As long as I can make work that connects us, I'm happy with that.
